Home and variety store, Wilko is coming to Wolverhampton’s Mander Centre. It will occupy a 24,000 sq ft unit in the lower mall, in a position that people will remember the old Woolworths store occupying. It will also benefit from the entrance on to Dudley Street that Woolworths used to have. This entrance will have an opened out frontage incorporating a lift as well as stairs to access the store from Wolverhampton’s main shopping street.
Wilko is popular with the family for its home and garden departments, toys, home brewing kits and DIY. A welcome return to this location will be the ability to purchase pick and mix sweets, which Wulfrunians will remember Woolworths doing when in this location.
When does the new Wilko in the Mander Centre open?
Work is ongoing to get the store ready for its opening date. The new Wilko in the Mander Centre opens at 9am on Friday 15th November. The first 100 customers to enter the store when the ribbon is cut will receive a goody bag. Wolverhampton’s Signal 107 radio station is going to be on hand hosting a game of The Price is Right. Customers playing could win £50 worth of vouchers to spend in the store.
The new store is going to replace Wolverhampton’s existing Wilko. The St George’s Parade / Snow Hill store is set to close. Wilko follows hot on the heels of B&M and One Below as new stores continue to open in Wolverhampton’s Mander Centre.
