FA Vase run for AFC Wulfrunians

Castlecroft based football club, AFC Wulfrunians, are currently embarking on their longest cup run in the FA Vase, reaching the Fourth Round – a match they will play this weekend when they host Nuneaton Griff at the Castlecroft Stadium.

A packed Castlecroft Stadium for last weekends game against Hereford

The FA Vase is the Football Association’s cup competition for football clubs playing in leagues below step 4 of the National League System, and Wulfs are hoping to attract a big crowd in Saturdays game to get behind the players and secure a place in the draw for the fifth round. Prior to this weekends fourth round fixture, the furthest Wulfrunians have progressed was the third round during the 2012/13 season, when they were knocked out by Borrowash Victoria, Borrowash running out 3-2 winners after extra time at the Castlecroft Stadium (match report).

Wulfs were narrowly beaten last weekend by a good, table topping Hereford side, and will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday.

The match kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday 9th January, with adult admission costing £5 and children and concessions at £3 – excellent value for money. A match programme is also available on the gate, refreshments are available and (especially on a cold day) supporters can spend time in the bar (with a full view of the pitch) and a drink / snack.
