St George’s Day celebrations

Several events will be taking place in Wolverhampton on St George’s Day and this coming weekend to celebrate England’s patron saint. Thousands of school children will have a very English menu to choose from tomorrow, with Wolverhampton City Council providing such celebratory treats as a ‘Red dragon pie’, sausage and Yorkshire pudding, with a dessert of toffee apple ice cream.

Pubs are celebrating by adding specials to their menu for the day, such as Beef and Bombardier ale sausage and mash at Hogshead Wolverhampton, Yates Wolverhampton cooking up a traditional fish and chip special for £3.95 and Hail to the Ale in Claregate has a ‘pie and a pint’ special for the day. For those in Wolverhampton centre tomorrow, Queen Square will host Chris Carmell’s New Vintage Jazz Band playing patriotic tunes.

On Friday 24th April, Wolverhampton’s Light House is holding a St George’s Party and fundraiser with live music, games, drink promotions and a late bar.
